Rapid, anthropogenic climate change is an existential threat. In America, the political/energy/economic system resists (perhaps fatally) the fundamental changes necessary to preserve a livable world for future generations. Homo Sapiens is smart, but perhaps not smart enough to prevent the disaster we are creating not just for ourselves, but for all higher life forms on Earth.
